Timberrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Don’t Stone the crows.

27th August 2010

The well known tree maintenance company, Clarke Cunningham called upon the services of NBC Bird and Pest Control Northern Ireland to assist them in a joint project with the Roads Service for Northern Ireland.

They needed to carry out urgent tree felling work on the famous Frosses Road in Ballymoney to reduce the risk of potential road traffic accidents caused by falling branches obstructing the road and causing drivers to swerve into the oncoming traffic.

Area Manager for NBC Bird and Pest Solutions Northern Ireland, Stephen Mulholland was on hand to provide expert help with any bird problems which could arise from rooks nesting in the trees. He was available to ensure that if the rooks had any young they would be handled with care.

The work to the 70-80 foot tall Scot’s pine trees had to be completed out on a Sunday morning with the road closed for approximately 3 miles over a 6 hour period, to minimise the disruption to the public.

The project was very successful. The work to the dangerous trees was carried out without any incidents as any birds as all the young had flown the nests in the nick of time.
