Mice in the UK
Mice are part of the commensal rodent family which also includes rats. The most common mouse that causes mouse problems is the House Mouse (Mus domesticus) which is a grey-black colour and 5-10cm nose to tail. Other mice such as the Wood Mouse, Long-tailed Field Mouse, Yellow Neck Field Mouse and Harvest Mouse are similar but prefer to live outdoors. Wood mice may enter house but are usually found in sheds, garages or out-houses.
