Quite a Fox! NBC’s Wildlife Management
12th November 2009
Tim Lester, NBC Bird and Pest Solutions Area Manager for Hampshire, recently responded to a call from a Bournemouth resident who was being pestered by urban foxes and causing extensive damage to his garden and property.
After providing a free consultation, a humane trapping programme was set up and over the next few nights he was able to catch the two nuisance foxes, relocating them to a suitable rural location to prevent them being a nuisance in the future.
The urban fox is a growing problem as they have no natural predator and live close to built-up areas and residential gardens, under sheds and can often be seen walking the streets throughout the day, generally scavenger for. Increases in the rabbit population and changes to the household waste collection have both assisted in the rise of urban foxes.
