Problem: A neighbouring population of red deer were causing problems at a Biffa landfill site near Cannock which had planted 20,000 trees as part of a reservation and restoration programme. The site manager said, 'the deer were stripping the bark and nibbling the saplings, killing the trees before they had a chance to grow'.
Solution: NBC Bird and Pest Solutions, deterred the deer using dogs and having a person on foot patrol. Lion excrement was also laid down as this is proven to frighten deer away. As the deer would believe a predator may inhabit the area.
Problem: Hampden Park, Scotland's national stadium, was invaded by a fox that caused havoc on the pitch by digging holes. The fox had entered the stadium at the most inconvenient time, a week before the Scotland's football world cup qualifier against Norway.
Solution: NBC Bird and Pest Solutions, a national bird and pest control company that provide fox control and fox prevention programmes caught the villainous pest within one hour of darkness and was humanely dispatched and removed.
Problem: The large population of rabbits had become a year round pest at the National Grid's Bishop Auckland Compressor Station. Rabbits burrows had undermined plant structures and embankments.
Solution: NBC Bird and Pest Solutions introduced a rabbit management programme with an intensive period of rabbit control during which a combination of ferreting, nets, dogs, hawks and shooting were used to reduce the rabbit population to manageable levels. Thereafter monthly visits are undertaken to ensure the site does not get re-infested. NBC has been commended for the success of the programme.
