Milton Keynes Dons – Flying High with NBC
The opening of the new Milton Keynes Dons Football stadium not only proved popular with the fans but also with a local pigeons, who had began to nest on the stadium roof. To ensure that the new stadium remained unspoilt they called in Scot Adam, Area Manager for NBC Bird and Pest Control.
An intensive falconry response programme was put in place to deter the pigeons from nesting at the stadium. Once the pigeons had been removed a weekly falconry maintenance programme using hawks and falcons inside the stadium and around the perimeter to prevent the pigeons from returning.
Scot also removed bird droppings and nests from the roof and guttering to prevent water damage to the 22,000 capacity stadium which features an open concourse and a Hilton Hotel, integrated into the building with rooms looking over the pitch.
In addition to this a full pest control programme was put in place at the stadium to maintain a pest free environment.
The stadium has been nominated as a potential hosts as part for the England 2018 World Cup Finals bid and if successful the capacity will be extend to 40,000.
