NBC Awarded Scottish Parliament Tender
The Scottish Parliament are committed to providing its staff and its members with a safe working environment. Following a review of the bird control measures previously operated across the Parliament campus and as part of the overall bird control strategy the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body has appointed NBC Bird and Pest Solutions to provide falconry services to deter and disperse pigeons from nesting or roosting on Parliament buildings and grounds.
NBC was awarded the work in recognition of our unrivalled experience and qualifications when conducting sensitive programmes of this type.
During June and July 2009 NBC is implementing an intensive period of control, using Harris Hawks to lift pest birds from the numerous courtyard areas, and then overflying the whole campus with hybrid peregrine falcons to disperse the pigeons from the site. This will be followed by weekly visits for the rest of the year to further deter nuisance birds from the campus.
