News - Gulls No Longer Milling Around on Aberdeen Construction Site

One of the UKs largest property development and construction companies is consulting the expertise NBC regarding a new development in central Aberdeen.

Miller Construction has been redeveloping a 200 acre site in Aberdeen, which will house the bus and train station and have several retail outlets and leisure facilities. However, the only snag is the aggressive Herring Gulls that have claimed this site as a breeding ground. The gulls have returned to this site for decades, so the stubborn birds will not be moving on without a fight - having already tried to attack construction workers.

NBCs Area Manager for Scotland, Ian Cain, said, &quotNBC was called in to provide a deterrent programme at the development - we employed a team of hawks, falcons and visual deterrents that successfully dispersed the gulls away from the site through out the nesting season.&quotMiller Construction was pleased with the work carried out and is keen to get NBC to consult with their architect and senior management about how they can implement suitable gull-proofing measures into the design of the overall build.
